The ideas behind arkotec began to take shape in 2003 within the laboratories of artistic experimentation and theory. The concept of lost identity and creative expression within an ever-shrinking world was one that festered in early arkotec test tubes and think tanks.
What began as a way to rebel against the robots, arkotec evolved into a more passive endeavor: a simple outlet for creativity. As opposed to brands or trends striving to fill a niche or capitalize on a popular idea, we make things we'd like to wear or use ourselves and offer what materializes for the public to take or leave. We do what makes us happy and when others think it's neat, even better.
A small operation, arkotec focuses on small quantities of an even smaller variety of goods. Starting first with ideas and concepts being translated into t-shirt designs, we have slowly expanded to incorporate other goods like bags for girls, stuffed creatures for kids and pillows for homes. We find inspiration in nature and the built environment, in the simple and beautiful things of daily life. We're appreciative of the old school, we love vintage modern form and color. We love goods with character, even imperfections of those hand-made.
The co(operating) lab(oratory) is an idea looking at relationships between people and our environments in positive ways. The satellite dish is a symbol of our ability to reach people everywhere and spread some goodness.
the world is our laboratory, life is an art project.
